Haryana urges Delhi govt not to challan its buses arbitrarily
New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) The Haryana government has urged the Delhi government not to arbitrarily challan the buses run by the Haryana Roadways for traffic violations.
In a communication to the Delhi government, the Haryana government urged it to instruct its field officials to desist from exercising their challaning powers in an arbitrary manner.
He said a close scrutiny of challaning data revealed that the majority of challaning of the Haryana Roadways buses were for overspeeding, wrong lane change and overtaking.
''However, the Haryana government could not encourage unsafe driving by its drivers,''Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant said.
At the same time, he said, taking a holistic view, it had been decided that refresher courses would be conducted for drivers at each of the depots to sensitise them about the driving discipline in heavy traffic conditions that existed in Delhi.
''Instructions have also been passed to put an end to the practice of stopping the buses at unauthorised locations in busy traffic to pick up or drop passengers which could be hazardous to other road users,'' he added.
In this context, there is no justification to disrupt the bus services, he said.
