Gunmen storm Iraqi police station, kill 6-police

BAGHDAD, Nov 29 (Reuters) Militants set off a car bomb in a small town north of Baghdad today, killing six policemen, and then briefly occupied the local police station, a police source in the city of Samarra said.

Four policemen were also wounded in the initial blast at dawn near the station in the town of Tharthar, near Samarra, 100 km (60 miles) north of Baghdad. The militants left the site after about an hour.

US and Iraqi forces later imposed a daylight curfew in Samarra, the police source said.
