GNDU wins B L Gupta trophy for excellence in sports

Amritsar, Nov 29 (UNI) Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has won the Dr B L Gupta trophy for 2004-05 for its excellent achievment in various inter-university (men and woman) tournaments.

The University which has won the coveted Maulana Azad Kalam Azad trophy 19 times, won the Dr B L Gupta trophy for the 14th time since its inception in 1980-81.

The University also won the Osmania University platinum jubilee trophy for 2005-06 for securing the highest points for participation in various women team events in the All India Inter-University tournaments. This is for the eighth time that the University has won this trophy.

The two trophies were recently presented to GNDU Vice-Chancellor Jai Rup Singh by Prof S F Patel, President Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at a function held at Mumbai.
