City jeweller nabbed at airport in smuggling case
Jammu, Nov 29 (UNI) The Anti-Hijacking Police arrested a prominent city-based jeweller with 4.5 kg of gold ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh at Jammu Airport here last evening.
Police said the accused, identified as Rohit Jain son of Parjan Kumar Jain of Gandhi Nagar, was later slapped a fine of Rs 15 lakh by Sales Tax authorities.
Sources said during the X-Ray screening of the luggage of the accused, who was trying to board Delhi bound Indian Airlines flight at around 1610 hrs last evening, 4.5 kg gold ornaments at security lounge were recovered.
DC (Vigilance) Sales Tax M L Sharma said a fine of Rs 15.06 lakh was imposed on the jeweller. Total value of the gold being taken from Jammu to New Delhi was over Rs 30 lakh.
