Chouhan fires broadside at Centre
Bhopal, Nov 29 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today opined that in a democratic set-up the Centre ought not to discriminate against state governments.
''Such a tendency should be avoided at least when it comes to a humanitarian activity such as disbursal of relief in the wake of a natural calamity,'' Mr Chouhan told UNI here in an interview marking the completion of his first year in office.
Pointing out that political parties crossed swords with one another during elections, Mr Chouhan added that once a government was elected there should be no discrimination against it. He stressed on the development of a system, whereby better communication would be facilitated between New Delhi and the states though different parties might be in power.
''Madhya Pradesh's power share was provided to other states.
Following natural calamities, states such as Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh received immediate relief. Several projects of Madhya Pradesh are awaiting the Centre's clearance. Despite these situations, this state has topped in implementation of the Employment Guarantee Scheme and the Prime Minister's Rural Roads Scheme,'' the chief minister said.
