BJP committed to Telangana: Raman Singh
Hyderabad, Nov 29 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today said the BJP was committed to smaller states and a separate Telangana would be formed only under the governance of a BJP-led NDA government in the future.
Addressing the press here, Mr Singh alleged the Congress-led UPA Government would not realise the dreams of the Telangana people by carving out the region from the Andhra Pradesh.
Stating that smaller states had the potential to grow rapidly like Chhattisgarh, which was showing posititve results in the areas of industrial development and employment generation. He said the BJP had already created states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Uttaranchal during the NDA regime.
The Chief Minister said the per capita income of the state had increased to Rs 26,000 in 2006 from Rs 14,000 in 2000 while the state's industrial growth touched 12 per cent from six per cent in 2006.
He said the state was planning to provide 24-hour power supply to agricultural and domestic consumers by the end of November 2007. The government had targeted to generate 12,000 MW power by the end of 2011.
