Baba Ramdev denies making insulting remarks against Mahatma Gandhi
Jabalpur, Nov 29 (UNI) Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev today denied that he had made insulting remarks against the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Baba Ramdev told a press conference that publicising two lines from a two-hour programme during his yoga camp and presenting it in a twisted context was playing with the emotions of the country.
Asserting that Mahatma Gandhi was a worshipper of truth and non-violence and that his teachings were relevant even today, Baba Ramdev claimed that he had pointed out that independence had not come without sword and sacrifice of martyrs.
However, media had propagated that he had said Mahatma Gandhi had no contribution in attaining independence.
On whether he had any political inclination, Baba Ramdav stressed that he had no political past or present and neither hed any plans to have a political future.
Without mentioning any particular party, he said every party had some people of good character.
Alleging that youths were being exploited by feeding them with alcohol and lust, Baba Ramdev said Mahatma Gandhi wanted to ban liquor and non-vegetarian food after independence.
He would bring about ideological revolution against those presenting alcohol and lust, he added.
The Yoga Guru said the country needed an ideological revolution devoid of weapons and violence and he was using 'yoga' as a medium to abandon liquor, non-vegetarian food, stop foeticide and control population.
Meanwhile, a UNI report from Indore said, youth groups, peeved over alleged remarks by Baba Ramdev against Mahatma Gandhi, burnt his posters.
