Arrested Jaish militants conduits: Police
New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) Two days after the Special Cell sleuths arrested two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants from Old Delhi Railway station, police today said both were acting as conduits for 'shipping' 'hawala' money and explosives to the banned outfit.
Addressing a press conference, Special Cell Joint Commissioner Karnal Singh said Mustaq Ahmed Kallo alias Afzal (31) and Mohammad Iqbal alias Faisal (35), who were arrested near Kaudia Bridge near Old Delhi Railway Station on November 27 while waiting for their associate to deliver a 'consignment', were involved in transporting explosives and money for 'terror purposes'.
''While the two kilograms of RDX seized from them was brought from Deoband in Saharanpur (UP) and was to be delivered to carry out terrorist activities in Delhi, the Rs five lakh cash recovered was meant to be taken to Kashmir for funding terror operations.'' The money had been procured through 'hawala' transaction, he added.
On the reason for bringing explosives to the Capital, the Jt CP said the purpose of making Delhi a target for terror activities is to get wider publicity for their organisation and motives.
The two militants were arrested on November 27 at 2000 hrs after they alighted from Kalka-Delhi Express at Old Delhi Railway Station and walked towards the closeby bridge to meet their associates.
