AIADMK urges District Collector, SP to rescue partymen

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Nov 29 (UNI) Kancheepuram District AIADMK Secretary and MLA, Ko Hari today lodged a complaint with the District Collector Pradeep Yadav and Superintendent of Police Amalraj seeking action to rescue the two party councillors of the Kancheepuram Panchayat Union, who were allegedly kidnapped by the DMK Panchayat Union Secretary P M Kumar.

Police said AIADMK Councillors Jayaraman(55) and Pandian(45) were kidnapped by some unidentified persons recently.

Ms Padma, wife of Mr Jayaraman and Subramanian, brother of Mr Pandian filed a Habeaus Corpus petition in Madras High Court, alleging that Mr Kumar was behind the kidnapping of the AIADMK Councillors.

Ms Jayaraman had also lodged a complaint earlier at the police station, suspecting foul play, since her husband, who left their residence on November 25 had not returned. His motorcycle, however, was seen abandoned at Erivakkam, near here.

Mr Subramanian had also lodged a complaint to the police as Mr Pandian was found missing.

Mr Hari, who represents the Thirutani constituency, had also submitted a petition to Mr Yadav and Mr Amalraj, alleging that the AIADMK Councillors life was in danger and urged them to rescue his partymen and to provide proper protection to enable them to participate and cast their votes in the civic body poll on November 30 to elect its Chairman.
