Police register case against security forces
Srinagar, Nov 28 (UNI) A case has been registered against security forces in Pulwama in south Kashmir for allegedly beating up a driver.
Driver Bashir Ahmad alleged that he was on his way to Srinagar from Shopian alongwith passengers when security forces stopped him near a camp at Pulwama yesterday.
He alleged they kicked and hit him with riffle butts and sticks before asking questions in the presence of large number of people.
Later, he was allowed to go after the passengers intervened.
Bashir later lodged a complaint with the police station in Pulwama against them.
He alleged security personnel deployed in the area forced drivers to take them to far flung areas without paying them the charges.
The drivers who refused were being tortured and beaten up, he alleged.
The taxi operators unions operating in the south Kashmir said that a number of drivers were arrested after they refused to take the security personnel to far flung areas for conducting operations.
A driver was recently killed in north Kashmir after militants attacked the security force personnel travelling in his vehicle, they said.
