Nepalese Maoist leaders to be freed soon:Bhattacharjee

Siliguri, Nov 28 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddadeb Bhattacharjee today said his government was negotiating with the Centre for early release of two jailed Maoist leaders of Nepal.

Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) high ranking leaders - Chandra Prakash Gozurel and Mohan Baidya - have been languishing in jail since their arrest from different parts of the country.

The Chief Minister said, ''since we have very good relations with Nepal, we should ensure for their (two Maoist leaders) early release.'' He said they might be released within two days as the Union government was doing paperwork for their freedom.

Mohan Baidya, also known as Kiron had spearheaded the anti-monarch rebellion in the Himalayan nation, is now languishing in Jalpaiguri central jail after his arrest here on March 28, 2004.

He came here for an eye surgery in a Jalpaiguri nursing home.

Chandra Prakash Gozurel, another top-level Maoist leader, was arrested by the Chennai police in 2005. Later he was brought here and sent to the same jail.
