Mulayam asks law students to follow Lohia's path
Lucknow, Nov 28 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today termed the late Ram Manohar Lohia as a 'legend' for the law-makers of the country.
Addressing a function here after inaugurating the Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Mr Yadav said eventhough Dr Lohia had not studied law, he was excellent in international laws.
Criticising his own party workers, the Chief Minister said there were very few SP workers who had studied about Lohia and his books on socialism.
''In Goa, people respect Lohia more than Mahatma Gandhi,'' he claimed.
Asking the students of the new law university to earn laurels for the state and the country, he said they should study the philosophy of Dr Lohia.
''This university would be an unique institution of international standards and will contribute in the country's judiciary system'', he claimed.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated projects worth over Rs 258 crore during the function, including addition of faculties in 24 degree colleges in the state.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, the Law University director S S Katiyar said the institution would be developed on the lines of IITs and will have a shopping complex, a 3000-capacity auditorium, swimming pool, sports stadium and hostels.
At present, the capacity of the university is to incorporate 240 students.
