Mercury rises to 8.2 degree C but no respite from chill
New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) There was no respite from chill for Delhiites, who have been experiencing biting cold conditions since Saturday, even though the mercury today rose slightly to 8.2 degrees Celsius.
It was another chilly morning that greeted Delhiites and even though the minimum temperature rose from the season's lowest of 7.6 degrees C yesterday to 8.2 degrees C, it was still two degrees below normal.
The maximum too was recorded at 24.1 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
The chilly conditions were likely to persist in the coming week with the weather office forecasting that would be no significant change in night temperatures over the next two to three days.
They have forecast a rise in minimum temperature to nine Degree C though the sky would remain largely clear.
Today is the fourth day in a row that mercury has fallen below 9 degrees Celsius, indicating that the Winter has well and truly arrived in the capital.
Chilly condition could stay in Delhi the next week too with weathermen saying that another western disturbance was likely to affect Northwest India from December 3 onwards.
A drop in mercury was long overdue as the post-Diwali period had witnessed unusually warm weather with the night temperatures hovering at around 15 degrees C, about 5 degrees above normal.
