Maharaja Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur passes away

Agartala, Nov 28 (UNI) Maharaja Kirit Bikram Kishore Manikya, son of the last king of Tripura Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, passed away last night at a private nursing home in Kolkata.

He was 73.

He is survived by Maharani Bibhu Kumari Devi, a former Minister of Tripura, two daughters and son Pradyut Kishore Deb Burman.

The Maharaja suffered cardiac arrest and was admitted to Woodlands Nursing Home where he breathed his last.

Royal family sources informed that his body would be flown to Agartala tomorrow and placed at Ujjayanta Palace for public homage.

The Maharaja was elected to the Lok Sabha twice in 1967 and 1977 from East Tripura Constituency as a Congress candidate. He was also the son-in-law of the Royal family of Gwalior.
