Justice Jain takes oath as Punjab and Haryana High Court CJ
Chandigarh, Nov 28 (UNI) Haryana Governor A R Kidwai today administered the oath of affirmation and secrecy to Justice Vijender Kumar Jain the newly appointed Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court at the Haryana Raj Bhavan here.
Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Parshant read the warrants of appointment ordered by the President A P J Abdul Kalam.
Others who were present on the occasion included Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory, Chandigarh Gen (Retd) S F Rodrigues, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Raghubir Singh Kadian, Ministers of Punjab and Haryana, Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Delhi High Court, legal luminaries and prominent citizens of the city.
While talking to mediapersons, Chief Justice Jain after taking the oath, said efforts would be made to provide cost effective justice and law would be made accessible to the poor people.
Justice Jain was born on August two 1946. He was designated as Senior Advocate in May 1990 by Delhi High Court. He was appointed as permanent Judge of Delhi High Court on December 12, 1992. He practiced in Supreme Court and High Courts mainly on civil, constitutional, taxation and company matters.
He contributed and participated in many international symposium and seminars dealing with human rights, alternate dispute redressal mechanism, private and public international law and the applicability of International Law into the Municipal Law.
