JeIH women to organise nation wide campaign
Chennai, Nov 28 (UNI) Women activists belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JeIH), an Islamic movement will organise a nationwide campaign to introduce 'Islamic family values and norms' to the general public from December one to ten.
Addressing a press conference here, JeIH Ladies Wing State President A Mumtaz Begum said India was in dire straits as far as the family system was concerned. The increasing rate of divorces, steep rise in the number of dowry deaths, decrease in the number of girl children and widening gap in sex ratio showed the cracks in social fabric, she added.
As the strength of the nation lay in its family system and social justice, the Jamaat had decided to launch the campaign, she added.
Stating that Islam gave more importance to social and family values than worship and prayer, Ms Begum said the strong families prevalent in Muslim societies were ample testimony to this.
However, due to ignorance a significant number of Muslims were drifting away from 'time-tested and cherished values and norms', she added.
Ms Begum said the campaign was also to bring the entire cadre of the Jamaat within the fold of Islamic family values and to help Muslim masses to get acquainted with laws and norms and to shape their lives accordingly.
