HC notice to Ambala DC for contempt of court

Chandigarh, Nov 28 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued show cause notices dated February 13, 2007 to O P Langyan, Deputy Commissioner, Ambala and three others, for defying its direction to stay the suspension of a woman sarpanch.

Justice Surya Kant issued notices returnable by February 13, 2007, regarding the stay of the suspension of Jogindro Devi sarpanch of village Jolly, tehsil Naraingarh, district Ambala.

Despite categorical orders of the division bench of the High Court, the petitioner Jogindro was not allowed to work by the officers concerned.

The court has asked Langyan and three others as to why contempt of court proceedings should be not be initiated against them.
