Haryana to rehabilitate child labourers in 13 districts

Rohtak, Nov 28 (UNI) Ten more districts of Haryana will be covered under the Union Labour Ministry's scheme for rehabilitation of child labourers.

Talking to reporters here today, Central Child Labour Advisory Board vice chairperson Jyoti Setia said the scheme had already been introduced in three Haryana districts-Panipat, Gurgaon and Faridabad.

Under the scheme, 20 child labour rehabilitation centres were opened for imparting education and vocational training to the children below 14 years of age after they were rescued from their places of work, Ms Setia said.

She said she was undertaking the tour of different areas of Haryana to identify the ten districts for implementation of the scheme. The Labour Department officials had been directed to conduct survey of child labour in their jurisdictions and ensure that the rescued children were enrolled in the centres for rehabilitation.

The child labour prohibition law would be strictly enforced throughout the country.
