Gyanendra pandey retires from first class cricket
Lucknow, Nov 28 (UNI) Former India ODI player Gyanendra Pandey today retired from the first class cricket.
Gyanendra Pandey has played two one day International matches against Pakistan in 1999 and is a veteran of the 97 Ranji Trophy, 19 Duleep Trophy and 28 Deodhar Trophy matches. He has led the Uttar Pradesh Ranji Team in 45 occasions.
Briefing mediapersons here, Gyanendra said, ''The upcoming new blood is showing its presence with full zeal to succeed at the state and International levels, therefore I have decided to get retirement from cricket.'' Mr Pandey said he had made up his mind for the retirement last year only when UP had won the Ranji trophy championship for the first time in its 72 year's history.
Dr Gaur Hari Singhania, President of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), has announced to reward Gyanendra with Rs one lakh for his outstanding services for the state cricket.
