Farmers turning into naxalites due to UP govt's apathy: Uma
Mahoba, Nov 28 (UNI) Bharatiya Janshakti Party (BJS) President and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti today alleged that the step-motherly behaviour of the Samajwadi Party-led Uttar Pradesh Government towards Bundelkhand farmers is compelling them to become naxalites.
The expelled BJP leader here said ''illiteracy, poverty and hunger deaths are forcing the farmers of the region to become revolutionists.'' The firebrand leader slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and the UPA regime at the Centre for turning a 'Nelson's eye' towards the farmers plight.
''Over the years, extreme poverty has forced several farmers of the region to commit suicide,'' she claimed.
''If the governments do not stop turning deaf ears to the woes of farmers, things would turn from bad to worse,'' she maintained.
