Dy Registrar of SU remanded to 4-day police custody
Rajkot, Nov 28 (UNI) The deputy registrar of Saurashtra University Kirit Pathak who had been arrested for misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 1.35 crore was remanded to four-day police custody by a local court today.
Chief investigating officer, senior police inspector V V Gohil told UNI, that the accused who was also the former chairman of the Executive Committee of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC), was an authorised signatory along with the then Education Officer Bhalchandra Vyas. The other accused in the case is the chief accountant of the university, Jagdish Dave.
The trio had taken undue advantage of their positions during their tenure from 1999 to 2004, to allegedly embezzle funds worth Rs 1.35 crore and transfer the same into their personal bank accounts at the Gujarat Industrial Bank, Gohil said.
