CBI to probe Khairlanji incident, RS condemns atrocities on Dalits

New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) Strongly condemning the atrocities on Dalits in Khairlanji, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Personnel Suresh Pachauri today said the CBI would carry out a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Making a statement on an issue raised by Samajwadi Party MPs in the Rajya Sabha, Mr Pachauri said the Principal Secretary, Maharashtra Government had sent a communication to the Centre on November 14 and the CBI had agreed to investigate the issue.

Our interest is in ensuring a fair and objective investigation by the CBI and punishing the guilty persons, he said.

Earlier, the Upper House unanimously condemned atrocities against Dalits in the country, particularly the recent incident in Nagpur in which four members of a Dalit family were murdered and their women dishonoured while the police and administration remained passive spectators.
