Azad for better relations b/w security forces-civilians
Jammu, Nov 28: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked the security forces to adopt people-friendly approach to avoid any civilian losses or damage to property while dealing with militancy.
Chairing the Unified Headquarters meeting here yesterday, the Chief Minister lauded all security agencies for bringing down custodial deaths to the negligible level.
''The security forces must take all precautions to avoid any human rights violations in any part of the state,'' Mr Azad said.
Approach of the people towards militants has been changing rapidly and the militants now stand isolated, he said, adding that people have started hating them for their inhuman activities.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the security personnel would establish better relations with the people.
GOC-in-C Northern Command Lt Gen Deepak Kapoor, Chief Secretary C Phunsog, Financial Commissioner Home B R Kundal, Director General of Police Gopal Sharma, Principal Secretary to CM Anil Goswami, Corps Commanders and senior officers of police, Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were present in the meeting.
