Rajasthan under the grasp of severe cold
Jaipur, Nov 27 (UNI) Rajasthan is under the grasp of a cold spell with the state capital shivering at 5.3 degrees Celsius today, at least 6 degrees below the normal temperature.
Churu remained the coldest today at 5 degrees C, at least 3 degrees below normal, but there was a marginal increse from yesterday's 4.4 degrees C, whereas, Pilani in Jhunjhunu district recorded 5.5 degrees C.
According to the weatherman the sudden dip in temperature this season is due to the snowfall in the northern states of Himachal Pradesh and elsewhere.
The accompanying cold wind is making the lives of people in Rajasthan, especially in the Shekhawati region in Jhunjhunu district and Sikar areas, miserable.
Ganganagar today recorded a temperature of 6.8 degrees C, whereas, Dholpur, Barmer, Jodhpur and Dabok recorded 7.8, 7.4, 8.2 and 8.6 degrees C respectively. Udaipur recorded a temperature of 8.2 degrees C, a fall of 2 degrees from yesterday.
Meanwhile, Bikaner recorded 11.8 degrees C, Jhalawar 11 degrees C, Jaisalmer 11.6 degrees Celsius, Kota 13 degrees C, Rawatbhata 10.8 degrees C and Bundi 14 degrees Celsius respectively.
Weathermen said the cold spell, which arrived a little late this year and is likely to persist for a longer period. Last year, the minimum temperature hovered at around 15 degrees C in the last week of November.
