IFFI may lose its popularity due to mismanagement: Parrikar
Panaji, Nov 27 (UNI) The ongoing International Film Festival of India, which is gaining popularity year after year due to its location in Goa, may lose its shine shortly due to mismanagement at the instance of the Pratapsingh Rane government, says Former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Pointing out various lapses in the conduct of the festival this year, Mr Parrikar told mediapersons here today that the administration had failed to take remedial measures on time once the problems cropped up, resulting in adverse publicity.
Unfortunately, there had not been any capacity addition since the first IFFI in 2004 under his regime, forcing the delegates to adjust themselves in the 4-screen Inox multiplex and the Kala Academy, resulting in frustration over lack of seats for watching the films, he said.
He also mentioned a scam in the construction of a jetty at a cost of two crore rupees abutting the Kala Academy which had not been used due to low tide.
No BJP legislators received the invites of the inaugural function on time forcing them not to participate in the festival. ''We however did not boycott the event,'' he added.
