Former BJP councillor surrenders before police in bank scam

Surat, Nov 27 (UNI) Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor and secretary of Shri Surti Modhvanik Urban Cooperative Credit Society Kishore Chaliawala, who is allegedly involved in a 6.41 crore misappropriation case, has surrendered before police.

Chaliawala, who was evading arrest for some months, surrendered before police yesterday.

According to police, Chaliawala along with nine others allegedly tried to use the deposits in the credit society for personal gains.

The case against Chaliawala and others was registered in December 2005.
