Delhi eves thrash J

New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) Formidable Delhi proved far superior than Jammu and Kashmir and the hosts hardly broke a sweat as they spanked the visitors by eight wickets in the North Zone Women's one day cricket tournament here today.

Opting to bat first, J and K eves were all out for 80 in 30 overs.

The visiting batswomen proved poor judge of run and as many as four of them got run out in the innings.

The visitors still managed to reach the score because of an impressive 45 by Payal Chaudhary.

Delhi's spin duo of Shilpi Gupta (2/5) and Deepti Dhyani(2/11) shared four wickets among themselves.

Chasing a victory target of 81, Delhi lost dependable Anjum Chopra (6) early and met another setback but Neha Tanwar and Deepti Dhyani played identical unbeaten knock of 18 to guide the team to 81 in just 10.4 overs to record a facile eight-wicket win.

J and K bowlers were completely erratic and they conceded a whopping 30 runs as extra.

Delhi gained five points, including a bonus, from the match and they travel to Dharamshala to take on hosts Himachal Pradesh in their next match on Wednesday.
