VHP to re-launch Temple movement post UP polls
Lucknow, Nov 26 (UNI) The Vishwa Hindu Parishad would re-launch the Ram Janmabhomi agitation next year, after the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.
''It is a deliberate plan to ensure that the temple movement is kept away from politics. The movement would start after the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are over,'' said VHP leader Dr Pravin Bhai Togadia.
He maintained that while the VHP was capable of mobilising any large movement at a short notice, the agitation has been planned for September-October, 2007 to ensure that no political connotations are attached to it. ''You will see, this time there would be no politicians involved with the movement,'' he added.
From December 1 to December 6 next, the VHP would also organise over 450 meetings at district headquarters across India. ''The slogan would be Mandir Vahin, Masjid Nahin. We would also raise the demand that no mosque be constructed in the country in the name of Moughal emperor Babar,'' he said.
On December 6, VHP international working president Ashok Singhal would address a meet in the Uttar Pradesh capital. On December 5, Mr Togadia would address the meeting in Nagpur -- which houses the Sangh headquarters -- and Mumbai.
''In February, 2007, we would hold a three-day pratinidhi sammelan in Allahabad where representatives from one lakh villages would pledge for the Temple movement. One thousand NRI Hindus would also attend the sammelan,'' he claimed while addressing reporters.
To a poser, he said people who were not allowing Dalits to enter temples were betraying the religion. He was referring to a recent incident in Kendrapara in Orissa where Dalits were not allowed to offer prayers at a local temple.
