Six Al-Umma activists shifted out of Madurai Central Jail
Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) Six Al Umma activists lodged in Madurai Central Jail were shifted to Vellore, Tiruchirappalli and Palayamkottai prisons for allegedly creating tension inside the central prison here.
They were shifted on the orders Tamil Nadu Additional Director General(Prisons) B M Ezra for violating the jail code, official sources said here today.
The Al Umma activists were said to be associates of Imam Ali.
Those shifted were Syed Ali, Syed Ibrahim, Syed Ismail, Umar Farooq, Fakkrudin and Raja Hussain.
It may be recalled that tension prevailed in the prison a few days back, after the Al-Umma activists allegedly attacked a murder convict.
They were arrested about three years ago in connection with the escape of Imam Ali from police custody, who was subsequently shot dead in an encounter in Bangalore.
