Scam in printing of fake tickets of MSRTC unearthed
Akola, Nov 26 (UNI) A Rs 3.93 lakh scam in printing and distribution of fake ticket books of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has been unearthed after 12 MSRTC employees were allegedly found to be involved in the racket.
The scam came to light after a complaint was filed by MSRTC Security Officer Baban Bhople. It was detected that four conductors in connivance with the accounts and traffic department staff prepared bogus documents for distribution as ticket books with the face value of Rs 30 and Rs 20 each. These were sold between August 2003 and January 2006.
Offences under sections 420 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were registered against them yesterday, police said, adding that no arrests have been made in this connection so far.
The accused have been identified as Yuvraj Bhanudas Thadkar, Prakash Rajaram Gangakhedkar, both former managers at Telhara depot, the current manager Niranjan Suryabhan Wankhede, (conductors) V P Aapotikar, P N Pachpor, V N Rane, H V Sushirlali, V B Libar (cashier), D W Bharsakle (cashier), R G Tali (clerk), S R Aapotikar (Asstt. traffic inspector) and Azruddin Sayyad (accountant).
