Sadhus perform 'Yajna' for Team India's success
Varanasi, Nov 26 (UNI) Worried over the string of drubbings suffered by the Indian cricket team, 'sadhus' performed a 'Yajna' on the banks of Ganga here today to pray for the success of the Men in Blue in South Africa.
Even the Muslim community of this holy city did not lag behind and organised a 'Duakhwani' (community prayer) in the Lallapura locality to pray for the return of winning habit to Team India.
The 'sadhus' under the banner of Jagriti Foundation gathered at the Assi Ghat edging the Ganga and performed a 'Bharatiya Cricket Vijay Yajna.' Amid chanto of Vedic mantras, they smeared their bodies with ashes and performed the religious ritual for their passion for cricket.
Meanwhile, Muslims also gathered under the auspices of Derbyshire club and organised 'Duakhwani' to pray for the success of the Indian cricket team presently going through a rough patch.
''It is not coach Greg Chappell or skipper Dravid who were to be blamed for the series of defeats, but every member of the cricket side shares equal blame for the disappointing show. We not only pray that winning habit returns to Team India, but we wish players especially Dhoni and turbunator Harbhajan Singh to drop their love for advertising and fashion shows and start performing on the field,'' said Shakil Ahmad 'Jadugar,' the president of the club.
