New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh who has secured a renewed three-year term to his office today said that he would announce his new team after the Lucknow National Council meeting scheduled for December 23 and 24.

Mr Singh interacting with newspersons after the announcement by National Returning Officer O P Kolhi, indicated that the new team would have some new faces. In his 11 month tenure, he continued with the team appointed by his predecessor L K Advani.

He said those who are capable of working would be entrusted with responsibilities and he would consult senior leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Leader of Opposition L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi before choosing his new team.

An emboldened Mr Singh said that the party's success in Uttar Pradesh would be the key for the party's ascendence to power at the Centre. Mr Singh, himself a former Chief Minister of the country's most populous and politicaly sensitive state said that the party would fight the elections without any alliance. He expressed confidence that the party would be in a position to form or lead the government.

Asked if there would be some post poll understanding with Bahujan Samaj Party or Samajwadi Party, he rejected with the remark "the question doesn't arise".

He avoided an answer to a question as to who would be the party's Prime Ministerial nominee to lead the party in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections by saying there was lot of time for taking such decision.
