Mizoram civil body urges Guv to safeguard dignity of Assy

Aizawl, Nov 26 (UNI) People's Right to Information&Development Implementing Society (PRISM) has urged the Mizoram governor to safeguard the Assembly's dignity following the allegation of supplying wrong information to the House by Agriculture minister H.

Rammawi over bamboo flowering and famine control (Baffacos) funds.

In a letter addressed to Governor M M Lakhera, PRISM stated that the minister had admitted telling untruths while answering questions in the Assembly over utilisation of Baffacos funds in last session.

'' We believe that giving untruths in Assembly damages the respectability of the House while corroding the trust that people place in the government and we urge you to exercise the power to safeguard the dignity of the House'', the letter said.

PRISM President Vanlalruata said Rammawi admitted that he had furnished wrong information to the Assembly in regard to Baffacos funds, particularly in the issue of purchase of rat traps, was nothing short of contempt for the dignity of the House.
