BSP to finalise list of 60 candidates by Nov 30
Jalandhar, Nov 26 (UNI) Reiterating its commitment to contest assembly elections in Punjab on all 117 seats on its own, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president A S Karimpuri today said that the list of candidates of as many as 60 seats would be finalised by November 30.
Talking to UNI here Mr Karimpuri said that the names of 50 candidates had already been cleared by party chief Ms Mayawati and the candidates had also been asked to begin their preparation.
He said that names of 10 more candidates had been forwarded to the party chief and her approval was expected by November 30.
Mr Karimpuri said that party leadership's decision for going to polls all alone in Punjab was final and the party is prepared to contest all 117 seats on its own.
He said barring some exceptions the rank and file in the party was happy with the party's decision against an alliance.
Meanwhile, party workers are making efforts for November 30 rally at Bhagwanpura Tajpura on the Nakodar Road which is scheduled to be addressed by Ms Mayawati.
BSP supporters from all over the state would come to participate in the rally, Mr Karimpuri said.
