Trinamool to move breach of privilege against Bhattacharjee
Kolkata, Nov 25 (UNI) In a bid to intensify its movement against setting up of the Tata's small car factory, the Trinamool Congress will bring a breach of privilege motion against Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee in the West Bengal Assembly for ''misleading'' the House on acquisition of land at Singur.
''I have asked the Legislature party to move a breach of privilege motion against the Chief Minister in the ongoing session.
He has distorted facts and misled the House by saying that 900 acre of land had already been acquired,'' Ms Banerjee told reporters.
The Trinamool leader asserted that many farmers had not parted with their land and the Government was yet to get hold of 550 acre out of a total 997 acre required for the Tata's project.
Alleging that the Government was lying and the Chief Minister was trying to forcibly grab the land of peasants, Ms Banerjee said those who had received compensation cheques were CPI(M) cadres and not the bonafide land owners.
''This Government is a lier and a cheat. If Mr Bhattacharjee tries to coerce the farmers he will be playing with fire,'' Ms Banerjee said declaring that she would go to Singur tomorrow to stall acquisition of agricultural land.
She also warned that the Government would be responsible if there was any unrest at Singur.
Wandering why was Tata Motors going to set up its car factory on agricultural land, Ms Banerjee said they could have opted for some other place in the state.
