Schools are a cradle to nurture human values: Azad
Jammu, Nov 25 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said after mother's lap schools are the next cradle to nurture human values in people, making them capable of serving the society, nation and themselves with highest degree of skill and human qualities.
The chief minister, while addressing annual day function of Government PG Degree College at Bhadarwah, said the basic aim of education is to excel human values, curb negative instincts and impart value-based quality education.
Saying that educational institutions should not be only ''producers of literate human flock but well qualified and highly valued humans'', Mr Azad said moral and value-based education should be pivotal in the modern and scientific educational system.
Earlier, the chief minister also inaugurated seven-day para-gliding adventure camp at Chinta near Bhadarwah. Fifteen youth of the area are participating in the camp to get training in para-gliding, rock-craft, mountaineering and river-crossing.
Mr Azad said adventure tourism has attained significant place globally and Jammu and Kashmir is one of the choicest place for encouraging and expanding adventure tourism.
''Our sky-kissing mountains, rough and tough brooks and streams and mighty rivers flowing from high altitudes are full of adventures for people to discover new aspects of mountaineering, rock-climbing, river-rafting and para-gliding,'' he said.
He added that the departments concerned with tourism have been given instructions to promote adventure tourism and showcase the state's feasibility and potential to outside world along with other tourism related programmes.
