Congress stages dharnas against MP Govt's ''anti-farmer'' policies

Bhopal, Nov 25 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress today staged sit-in demonstration at various places in the state to protest against anti-farmer policies of the government and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Governor to district authorities.

In the state capital, Congress workers staged a 'dharna' in front of the Collector's office, while sit-in demonstrations were staged at various block and district headquarters.

In a statement here, the party said the demonstration was organised to protest 'anti-peasant' policies of the government and claimed that a large number of agriculturists took part in it.

Congresssmen, including state Congress genreal secretaries Deepchand Yadav, Manak Agrawal, former minister Tanwant Singh Keer and former mayor Vibha Patel took part in the meeting.

Congress leaders alleged that farmers were being given 2-3 hours of electricity to meet their irrigation needs, while availability of fake seeds and manures were pushing peasants to the brink of disaster.
