Berlin police say thwarted school killing plot

BERLIN, Nov 25 (Reuters) Berlin police said they had stopped a 17-year-old student from carrying out plans to kill people at his secondary school, days after a young German man attacked a school with guns and explosives.

The 17-year-old boy had told schoolmates yesterday about a list he had drawn up with the names of those he wanted to kill and those who would be spared, a spokesman for the Berlin police said, confirming a story in the Berliner Morgenpost newspaper.

The boy's schoolmates had given details about the murder plans to the directors of the school, who then passed the information to police, the paper said.

The case is now being investigated by the homicide department.

A masked 18-year-old man stormed a secondary school on Monday in the town of Emsdetten, shooting five people and wounding others before committing suicide.
