Allahabad Bank sets up institute for farmers
Kolkata, Nov 25 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today inagurated the Farmers and Entreneurship Development Institute set up by Allahabad Bank at Bolpur near here.
The banks chairman and managing director A C Mahajan said the institute, first of its kind to be set up by a public sector bank, would provide training, credit and other escort services to the farmers and entrepreneurs in an integrated manner.
There would be a special course designed to suit the needs of farmers and entrepreneurs to carry out their activities effectively, Mr Mahajan said.
He also emphasised on building relationship between the bank and rural clients, which the essence of rural banking.
'' The institute will impart necessary training for awareness building, skill development and upgradation to take up the economic activities in a more profitable manner,'' he added.
Mr Mahajan further said the trained farmers and entrepreneurs would be brought under the bank's credit fold to enable them to carry out their activities with requisite capital and knowledge support.
