AG Punjab outplay Delhi Audit in final of AG hockey

Chandigarh, Nov 25 (UNI) AG Punjab thrashed Delhi Audit 7-1 in the final to win the North Zone Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD) Hockey Tournament here today.

AG Punjab opened their account in the fifth minute when Inderjit Singh converted a penalty corner. Seven minutes later Vikram Saini intercepted the ball inside the penalty cricle and caught the rival defence napping (2-0). Harpreet Singh Gill scored another goal to make it 3-0 for Punjab at half time.

Soon after resumption, Punjab were awarded a penalty stroke as Delhi Audit's defender stick checked Harpreet Singh Gill. However, Gill could not utilize the stroke in the 32nd minute. In the 37th minute, Inderjit Singh once again converted a penalty corner and increased the lead (4-0) Jagminder Singh of Delhi Audit scored a face-saving golf in the 44th minute. Punjab further scored in 48th, 54th and 60th minutes through Inderjit Singh, Ravinder Singh and Harpreet Singh, respectively.
