Rtd navy officer designs fibre houses for cyclone-prone areas

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 24 (UNI) A retired navy officer has submitted designs for fibre houses which could withstand cyclone and floods, to Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

According to the retired Navy Commandant B Satish Prasad, who designed the houses, they could be set up at coastal Andhra Pradesh and other parts of the state where cyclones and floods were frequent.

As per Dr Reddy's instruction, Mr Satish Prasad, also met West Godavrai District Collector Lav Agarwal and briefed him about the design.

He said the fibre houses, would be very useful during calamities like floods and cyclones.

Mr Satish said each house, which costs Rs 15 lakh, could accommodate at least 200 to 300 people.
