Over 38 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Haryana mandi

Chandigarh, Nov 24 (UNI) Over 38.83 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in Haryana mandis so far during this kharif season.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said out of the total paddy arrival, 28.50 lakh tonnes were leviable and 10.33 lakh tonnes basmati and other superior quality.

He said 20.42 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by six government agencies at the Minimum Support Price and the remaining 18.41 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.

Mr Chander Mohan said Hafed had procured 9.01 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Food and Supplies Department with 6.06 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation 2.43 lakh tonnes, Confed with about 1.76 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation with 1.03 lakh tonnes and Food Corporation of India with 10,947 tonnes.

He said Kurukshetra district was leading with about 7.25 lakh tonnes of paddy arrival, followed by Karnal with 5.55 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 4.93 lakh tonnes, Kaithal with 4.92 lakh tonnes and Ambala with 3.20 lakh tonnes.
