No threats from Dhoom 2: Sooraj Barjatya

Jaipur, Nov 24 (UNI) Denying any threats from the action flick ''Dhoom 2'' which releases this week, filmmaker Sooraj Barjayta says his latest offering ''Vivah'' won't be effected as the two movies have absolutely different sensibilites.

On a promotional tour of 'Vivah' along with leading lady Amrita Rao here yesterday, almost two weeks after the film released, the director said he was touring Rajasthan only to see the audience's reaction about the movie as it is a different experience to watch a film with common man.

Also because, hailing from Rajasthan and spending a part of his childhood in Jaipur, he has a special affinity for the state with most of his films having a Rajasthani touch.

Vivah will have to compete with Yashraj film's fun-filled action flick Dhoom 2, boasting of top-rung stars like Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, which may relegate his feel-good, high on value movie with upcoming starlets Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao.

Describing the state's locales as exquisitely breathtaking, Sooraj said ''The locations are ideal for shooting as they assume different hues during morning, noon, evening and night.'' About his always making 'feel-good' films with an overdose of values and culture, Sooraj said values are eternal and cannot be negated even in this age.

'Vivah,' based on a real life incident about which Sooraj's father Tarachand Barjayta read in a newspaper 17 years ago, traces the journey of a couple from engagement to marriage and dwells on the sanctity of arranged marriage.

Admitting that Vivah is his most difficult film to date as it has no story and not much drama, Sooraj said the film's marketing has not been aggressive as he had apprehensions about its success mainly because of the simplicity of the tale.

According to Rajshri productions, ladies are patronising the film in a major way, with many cities in Maharashtra arranging exclusive ladies show at many theatres.

About experimental films, the filmmaker said he is not averse to such films but prefers his own brand of traditional, culture and rich Indian values.

''If a filmmaker has belief in his genre of films, and makes it with his heart, experimentation is not an issue,'' he added.
