Former Kerala Minister to receive Living Heritage Medal

Palakkad, Kerala, Nov 24 (UNI) Former Kerala Minister C M Sundaram has been chosen for the Living Heritage Medal award instituted by the International Heritage Society (IHS) in New York.

Informing this at a press conference here today, IHS cordinator Prof Tony Roger said Mr Sundaram had been selected for his continuing efforts to preserve cultural and musical traditions of the ancient village of Kalpathy near here.

''Mr Sundaram is a living example of civic accomplishments for the betterment of community life and preservation of history,'' he said adding that this was the first time that they had received a nomination from Asia in the area of history and culture.

Mr Roger was here in connection with the restoration project of Rock Garden at Malampuzha.

The award presentation ceremony would be held at Kalpathy on Wednesday, he added.
