Cleartrip to promote budget tourism in east

Kolkata, Nov 24 (UNI) With the number of air passengers from Kolkata shooting up, the Mumbai based Cleartrip Travel Services Ltd will shortly launch a campaign for travellers in eastern India in collaboration with leading regional carriers for promotion of budget tourism.

The online travel products and solution company would cover both metro and non-metro towns to lure travellers avail of cheaper journey during the Christmas season and winter vacation in educational institutions, company sources yesterday said.

'' With the Kolkata air travel market rapidly expanding, it is but natural that we are trying to rope in more customers,'' the sources said.

The company, working closely with the existing value chain of consolidators, hotels and airlines, would ensure that the product quality, price and delivery fulfil the expectations of customers.

The services would include medical advice, related publishing services like local sports, entertainment and travel ticket bookings.

The sources said the whole operation would be carried out through technology that would make it easier to find the right ticket or hotel room with the facility of Short Messaging Service (SMS) and e-mail for communication of information to the customer.

The company also has a help desk to deal with post booking needs, the sources said.

'' The mid-2007 will be a landmark year for online travel solutions with an expected reduction in cost of broadband-based communications and lower cost travel solutions,'' the sources said.

They also said the company was eyeing network expansion to the international arena in 2007 and it would roll out a travel solution based on mobile telephony systems.
