Vita expands range with 14 new products like sweet n' soup

Chandigarh, Nov 23 (UNI) In addition to its existing array of 52 products, Haryana's popular dairy brand Vita today launched 14 new milk products here.

While launching the products, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda lauded the efforts of the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation which markets quality products under the brand name Vita, for procuring 7,00,000 litres of milk per day this year as against 6.75 lakh litres last year.

Vita has now added a range of new products to its kitty including cow milk ghee and whey tomato soup, a variety of sweets like milk cake, doda, sonpapri, kaju pinni, burfee, laddoo, jaleb, kheer, gulab jamun mix and rasgulla and pizza cheese and processed cheese in cheese category.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister exhorted the farmers to start dairy farming as side business in view of the shrinking of land holdings, This would not only solve the problem of unemployment at village level but also increase the income, he added.

The Chief Minister also announced to established a fruit and vegetable hub near Delhi to give direct benefit to the farming community of the state.

Vita already has popular products under brand name Vita including ghee, table butter, fluid milk, sweet flavoured milk, dahi, lassi, jaljeera, mango-drink and plain chhachh.

Earlier, HDDCF managing director Devender Singh informed that the federation has got the sanction worth Rs 67.12 crore projects from the state and the Central governments.

He said there had been a budget provision of Rs 9.85 crore for clean milk production scheme and under this scheme the bulk milk coolers, laboratories would be established and the farmers would be trained by providing chemicals and utensils for clean milk production.

He said about 4,500 societies had been functioning and about one lakh pourers were supplying milk to HDDFC.

He revealed that HDDCF had given employment to the rural youth by making them a resource person in the areas where cooperatives were not functional.

The White Card scheme had been a boon to the milk producers under which the producer who had supplied milk to dairy cooperatives consistently for three years, could get a loan of Rs one lakh without any security. So far credit of Rs 12 crore had already been obtained by the members.

Similarly the insurance scheme gives the cover of Rs one lakh to the consistent pourer by investing a meager Rs 10.

The federation is working assiduously towards strengthening its network of 205 milk booths, 190 distributors and 4000 retailers. The plan is to add 100 milk booths during the current year to boost the marketing efforts, out of which 13 booths are being opened in Chandigarh.
