Two college girls killed, 27 injured in train-bus collision
Jalandhar, Nov 23 (UNI) Two college girls were killed and 27 others injured seriously, in a collision between Dhanbad-Ferozpur Express and a college bus at an unmanned level crossing near Noormahal this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ishwar Singh told UNI here that the ill-fated bus of the Arya Girls College, Noormahal, carrying 29 students rammed into the Ferozepur-bound train between Guntala and Kanola villages.
Two girls died on the spot. Of the 27 injured students, eight were hurt seriously and referred to the DMC Hospital in Ludhiana while others were being treated at local hospitals.
Cooperative Minister Amarjit Singh Samra rushed to the spot along with officials on directives from Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
The chief minister has announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to next of kin of each deceased. A relief of Rs 50,000 has been granted to seriously injured while Rs 10,000 to other injured students.
