Tripura govt yet to constitute 5th pay commission
Agartala, Nov 23 (UNI) Tripura government has not yet decided to constitute the fifth pay commission despite demands from the various employees organisations.
Talking to newsmen here recently, state Finance Minister Badal Chaudhury said the government had not decided to constitute the 5th pay commission to revise the pay scale of various government employees.
He said the 12th Finance Commission had not yet responded to the demand of the state government to allocate before announcement of new pay structure.
Mr Chaudhury further said the government is closely monitoring the functioning of the sixth pay commission which was set up by the Centre for it's employees.
Referring to the 'Look East' policy of the UPA government, he said nothing had been done in this regard.
''The proposal for conversion of National Highway 44 into four lanes and extension of train link to Sabroom in the Southern fringe of the state bordering Bangladesh, is still pending with the Centre,'' Mr Chaudhury said.
He further expressed his doubts over the benefits the state would receive from the policy.
However, he hailed the Centre's initiative for the overall development of the NE states including the 'Look East' policy.
