Rajan supports report on appointment of temple archakas

Chennai, Nov 23 (UNI) The high-level committee headed by retired High Court Judge A K Rajan today submitted its report on appointment of temple archakas from all castes to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the State Secretariat here.

According to an official release the DMK government had passed an order allowing Hindus of all castes to serve as archakas in temples under the control of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, on May 23.

Subsequently, the government constituted a high-level committee headed by Mr Rajan to recommend on basic educational qualification, training module and duration, besides training centres for imparting training to archakas, the relase added.

The Committee comprising Kundrakudi Deivasigamani Ponnamabala Adigalar, Perur Santhalinga Ramasamy Adigalar, H R and C E Commissioner T Pitchandi, accompanied Mr Rajan to submit the report.
