EDUSAT to cover 45 more colleges in NE
Itanagar, Nov 23 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Chowna Mein has stressed on the need to improve the quality and coverage of education in the state.
Addressing at a seminar on 'Development of content and capacity building programmes on North East EDUSAT network' sponsored by UGC at Rajiv Gandhi University here yesterday, Mr Mein said qualified teachers were indispensable for the state's future.
Therefore, salary of the teachers here were considerably higher to attract the best talent in the profession, he said.
Consortium of Educational Communication (CEC) director Prof G D Sharma said 45 more colleges would be covered through EDUSAT in the NE region.
EDUSAT, India's first educational satellite, is mainly intended to meet the demand for an interactive satellite based distance education system for the country.
''It strongly reflects India's commitment to use space technology for national development, especially the remote areas,'' Prof Sharma said.
Speaking on the occasion, NEC member secretary Dr P P Srivastava emphasised the need of vocational education particularly bamboo based training in North East.
He also said the training and education on bamboo technology could create huge employment opportunity and help reduce the insurgency problem in NE region.
